Marks & Spencer creates 150 sales jobs in West Yorkshire
An expansion of Pudsey's Marks & Spencer store will create 150 new sales jobs in the run up to Christmas.
The store, which is based at the Owlcotes Centre, will be redesigned and extended, providing locals and job hunters alike with extra options after the closure of the town's Boots and Woolworths stores.
Nigel Conder, Pudsey town centre manager, said he was delighted that more sales jobs are on the way.
"It is fantastic news that more jobs will be created in and around Pudsey because overall there has been a significant increase in the amount of people claiming unemployment benefits," he told Pudsey Today.
It is expected that the 7,000 sq ft extension will allow the store to carry a larger home and furniture range.
According to Horsforth Today, more than 1,200 people in the area applied for the 36 sales jobs that were on offer at a new Go Outdoors store earlier in the year.
